Note that Frazer touched his translation up a bit, as no doubt Blade did when HE translated it from the original Gascon into French (consider also the probable mistranslation of "pet" in the formula... It is to be doubted that Blade's command of the dialect was as advanced as the narrative itself suggests). I'm currently researching this narrative and what it can tell us about Blade's relationship with Cazaux.
