I thank you for the photographic journey. I have few wishes in the fall of my life and one is to take those sequoia journeys myself. I have been to Muir forest and hugged these magnificent beings, and after attending my cousins wedding in California I returned with several left on the reception tables. One is 70 + feet tall!(thanks for the example to measure a tree) I now have 21 and have ''imported'' (many) of the soquel sequoia (said to be better suited for the deep south) from an Oregonian nursery to eventually present to the area public. There are several examples the the grand trees in this area and are doing quite well. One in Anderson, S.C. is said the be somewhat of a tourist attraction there. Long live the sequoia!!! Oh, thats right, they are!!!

If you get up around Crecent City, maybe consider the Curly Redwood Lodge if you need an inexpensive older motel. Pretty clean, and less than $60 a night prior to May.

www.curlyredwoodlodge.com

I think that's the URL

A decent campground & RV place is Emerald Forest in Trinidad. I use it more for a base of operations.

Cheers,

Thanks for stopping by, MDV. Your page has some amazing photos!

One day, I'll make it up to Del Norte County and see if I can't find one of those really wild groves. We always wind up running out of daylight somewhere in Humboldt when we're heading up to the big trees. The upside and the downside of that is the existence of large and flat trails and roads (including the Avenue of the Giants), hotels, and developed campsites. It would be fun to strike out for the back country one of these times.

Just stumbled upon your redwood page.

You gave a thumbs up for the wet season, and that's how I feel about visiting. Most of my images look moist too:

I go all year. But autumn / winter is my favorite.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing the pictures with us! We liked the stump which was carved into a house. And the heart-shaped windows were cool!

We would like to visit sometime soon.

It's so great that you, Punam and Noah were able to do this together. It brings back that wonderful trip Dad and I took 2 years ago at the same location. The pics are great, too!
